Martina Holler and Hermann Rid are both graduates of the Richard Strauss Conservatorium in Munich. Martina Holler studied under Gudrun Haag, and Hermann Rid studied under André Legros. They attended master courses given by Prof. Ursula Holliger, Prof. Therese Reichling, Daniel Deffayet and Jean Marie Londeix.
Martina Holler was the harp soloist at the Hamburger Symphoniker and the Staatsoper Hamburg from 1986 to 1989. She has been a guest performer with many renowned German orchestras such as the Bayerischer Rundfunk, Gewandhaus Orchester Leipzig, Staatstheater München and Münchner Philamoniker. She has performed as soloist with the Bayrischer Rundfunk, the Münchner Chamber Orchester and the Philharmonischen Staatsorchester Halle. She has participated in concert tours which took her to South America, USA, Spain, Switzerland and Italy. Martina Holler has been the harp soloist at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz since 2001.
Herman Rid was the winner of the “6 o´clock Concert Competition” organized by the Bayrischen Vereinsbank and the city of Munich in 1985. He has been a member of the chamber music groups Munich Saxophonequartett (1986-1995) and Art Core Saxophonequartett (1996-1998). He has been making chamber music recordings for the Bayrischen Rundfunk since 1986. He often joins as soloist with orchestras in Munich, such as the Münchner Kammerorchester, Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz, and Staatsoper München. He has also performed as soloist with the Hofer Symphonikern and the Münchner Chamber Orchester.
In 1990 the two artists, Hermann Rid and Martina Holler, founded the duo “Klang Dimension”. Their much successful series of concerts in 1995 was followed by their first CD, Saxophon und Harfe on the Munich label “Farao Classics”. In 1998 their next CD, “Windsbacher Psalmen” with the Windsbacher Knabenchor, came out. In the year 2000 their third CD “Barock glasklar” was released, and in 2001 Saxophon und Harfe Volume II. In 2001, the duo went on a concert tour called “Klang Art”.
The artistic work of Martina Holler and Hermann Rid is not only documented through their CD´s, but also through their collaboration with contemporary composers. The duo has worked together with the French composer Ida Gotkovsky at her composition “Eolienne” in Paris. Other composers who write for Martina Holler and Hermann Rid include Prof. Dieter Acker, Moritz Eggert, Tobias Giesen, Franz Kanefzky, Ton Verhiel, and Alexander Machajdik.
